At the beginning of this year I set myself the task to become a completely different person by the end of the year. I followed a method set by Devin Nash, writing 3 sets of goals. "Business", "Relationship", "Fitness". Within each of these goals I wrote one BIG goal. A goal that if I achieved it I would be a completely different person. These goals need to feel almost our of reach. You should be on your way to setting habits for these goals but as I mentioned they should feel like a surprise if you can achieve them. I have pictured my goals here
Under your big goal, write two MTG (Medium term goals) that are check ins throughout the year, if you are hitting these medium term goals, you are on time, if you are not, you need to reconsider if you can work harder at your goal. Or if it was too unrealistic maybe rewrite your goal. Finally you write your daily standards. What are the things you are going to do everyday that will push you closer to each of your goals. These should be as simple as possible. You should feel silly if you do not achieve these in a day. That way you can do them if you have 0 time, if you are stressed, if you are tired.
Out of your three goals you should set one as a theme. For example this year I have the 3 goals "50k business revenue, Learn italian, and 14% body fat". I set my theme as fitness, I have focused so lindly on fitness that it is April and I am already at 13% bodyfat. I am committed to riding my bike and calisthenics everyday. I have become obsessed. I love this goal setting method as you can see your identity shift in real time. You are moulding the person you will become and in turn you are also taking daily actions to see that person become you. As for my other two goals I am lagging, but given the speed I have reached my fitness goal I mediated on whether I wanted to stop focsuing on fitness and shift my intention to my other goals. I came to the conclusion that I am enjoying fitness so much and given that it is the theme for my year. I am pushing myself as hard and as far as I can go. I want to see my physical limit. I am loving the feeling of growing stronger every single day.
On the front of my vision board I wrote the various identities that I adopt everyday. I placed images of inspirations and heros that I believe I want to become or are people who are aspirational for me. This is an extremely anima charged activity. Similar to how writing your goals and standards shape you in real time. These photos and manifestations will guide you into a new person. There is a real magic to this process. If I were to create this board and never look at it again. I still think it would hold an influence on my life. That is not what I have done. As I have read inspirations. Or my goals have changed I have continued to mediate on and update this board. I recommend if you do this for yourself to leave space for this growth. I have added more than 50% of these pictures and quotes in the last 2 months. I may need to expand the board slightly in the future.
