The Kingkiller Chronicles Book review

I have recently found myself drawn back into the world of fantasy and sci-fi. something about vast worlds so different from our own in culture, creatures, environment, size and function just make my mind race. After I had finished Branden Sandersons "The Well of Ascension" I felt I needed a break from his world and was introduced to Patrick Rothfuss. Ignoring peoples claims that the trilogy was not finished I dived head first in. I did not expect to devour these books. Rothfuss' writing is gripping, his characters undergo quick and captivating arcs that leave you wondering where this whirlwind will end. In all honesty I cannot recommend the first book enough. It is Harry Potter meets Mistbron in the best way possible. It is high fantasy with an emphasis on the lower middle class. There is no chosen one, simply the acts of individuals.

A Unfortunately, the whirlwind does end. It ends with the second book which quickly comes to a crawl as Rothfuss finishes what seems to be his initial idea for the story in the first act of book 2. What we are left with in act 2 and 3 is a lack lustre porn fantasy at best and a teenagers attempt at erotic fiction at worst. Despite still being dissapointed that there is no third book in the series. I am unsure if I want to continue reading after having to suffer through Rothfuss' wank bank. s a side note if you haven't read Joe Abercrombies "The First law" Trilogy I highly recommend reading that in the meantime while waiting for book 3 of Kingkiller.
